Miville opening at HOWL Gallery proves a screaming success

January 6, 2010

Captiva resident, activist and artist Rene Miville made a triumphant return to the world of fine art on New Year's Day through a new solo exhibition at HOWL Gallery in downtown Fort Myers.

Jan. 1 was the first Art Walk for 2010, and Miville was at the gallery to meet and greet fans new and old as they perused his artwork - despite the less than palatable weather conditions.

"It was a lot of fun. The show was great. There were just waves and waves of people coming in despite the adversarial circustances - crappy weather and the fact that it was Jan. 1. Every time I turned around there were new crowds of 50 or 60 people coming in," Miville said, surprised but pleased with the tremendous turnout.

"People loved reading about the stories behind each of the pieces and the gallery sold some smaller pieces. All in all it was very nice event," Miville said.

Miville's exhibit will hang in the HOWL Gallery until February.
