William "Bill" Force Spencer, of Sanibel, Florida died December 20, 2016, at Healthpark Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida from a massive heart attack, following a ten-year battle with cancer. He was fifty-nine years old. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Sandra Paonessa Spencer. They both resided in Sanibel for the past 16 years.
Bill was born in Stanford, Connecticut on January 16, 1957, to William H. F. Spencer, and the late Louise Jones Beard. He graduated from Tabor Academy in 1975. He studied Ocean Sciences at Florida Institute of Technology and received a degree in Business Administration from University of Maine at Augusta. Bill loved adventure, including sailing, skiing, and mountain biking. Prior to moving to Florida, he served as a ski instructor and mountain bike guide at Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. For the past 15 years Bill and his wife Sandi have been owner operators of Morning Glory Maintenance & Housekeeping on Sanibel/Captiva. Bill had a strong and personal relationship with Jesus, his Lord and Savior and was an active member at Sanibel Community Church for the past 15 years. Prior to his illness he enjoyed mission trips in Belarus and Honduras.
Bill is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra Paonessa Spencer, his father William H. F. Spencer of Newport, RI, his daughters Elizabeth Spencer and Katherine Spencer, his stepchildren, Kimberly McCrann Rodgers and Sean McCrann and their families, as well as his sisters and stepsisters. Bill was grandfather to 4 of Sandras grandchildren, Joseph McCrann, Kylee Garland, Eric McCrann and Chase Rodgers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Jones Beard.
A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held on January 14, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Sanibel Community Church.
