Having fun and giving back: 'Ding' Darling refuge to host beach walk, cleanup

June 6, 2018
Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

In recognition of World Oceans Day, the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge will hold a beach walk, followed by a beach cleanup, on June 8 starting at 9 a.m.

Led by a ranger, take a one-hour guided exploration of the refuge's Perry Tract on Sanibel. Learn about the vital beach ecosystem and do not forget to bring a shell bag to save any mementos.

Following the walk, the beach cleanup will take place.

Both are free and open to the community.

Meet at the Gulfside City Park, at 2001 Algiers Lane; parking fees will apply.

For more information, call 239-472-1100 or visit www.fws.gov/refuge/jn_ding_darling.
