Family Storytime

Open Mic

BIG ARTS will host Open Mic at 7 p.m. at the Strauss Theatre, at 2200 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Southwest Florida poets and writers are invited to perform their latest works on stage. Attendees are welcome to read their favorite poem or prose passage for the audience. To participate, come early and sign the reader list. Admission is $5; cash only. Basil & Tea Tasting

Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation volunteer Dee Serage-Century will host a Basil & Tea Tasting at 11 a.m. at the Native Landscape and Garden Center, at 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Participants will have the opportunity to taste five species of culinary basil, plus tea, grown at the Bailey Homestead. There will also be plants available for purchase.

Vinyasa Yoga

Turtle Tracks

Learn about the life cycles and habits of the sea turtles and shorebirds that nest on Sanibel beaches, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation's monitoring activities and what it is doing to protect them from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Nature Center, at 3333 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel. In The Garden will host a free garden tour at 10 a.m. at 3889 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel. Coffee, Tea and Trivia

LUX Wines Tasting?

The LUX Wines Tasting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Hosted by Bailey's General Store, Johnson Brothers Liquors and LUX Wines, attendees will enjoy Italian wines, hors d'oeuvres, education by a wine industry expert and discounted wine prices. 6th Annual Holiday Stroll

South Seas Island Resort will host its 6th Annual Holiday Stroll from 6 to 9 p.m. at 5400 Plantation Road, Captiva. There will be treats; skating; live music; arts and crafts; entertainment, including face painting, stilt walking, juggling and balloon artists; holiday movies; photos with Santa; and more. Cost is $10; children ages 12 and under are free. Proceeds will benefit Captains for Clean Water.

6th Annual Holiday Stroll

South Seas Island Resort will host its 6th Annual Holiday Stroll from 6 to 9 p.m. at 5400 Plantation Road, Captiva. Beach Walk

The Sanibel Sea School will offer a free guided beach walk from 9 to 11 a.m. Join the organization's marine science educators and explore what washed ashore. They will talk about any interesting organisms and objects found on the beach, share some basic shell biology and answer questions. Meet at the flagship campus, at 455 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Ocean Tribe Paddlers

The Ocean Tribe Paddlers will hold a group paddle from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to explore the mangroves around Bowman's Beach. Participants should meet at the Bowman's Beach kayak launch. Bringing a headlamp or flashlight is recommended. The first event is free, then it is requested that a club membership be purchased. Sanibel Island Farmers Market

Sanibel Island Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sanibel City Hall, at 800 Dunlop Road. Organized by Local Roots, it will feature a mix of vendors and products, plus crafters. Find organic produce, exotic fruits, cheeses, breads and bagels, fresh eggs, guacamole and salsa, jams, local honey, pickles and seafood, as well as handmade soaps, essential oils, flowers and plants.
