The League of Women Voters of Sanibel will hold its monthly luncheon on Feb. 21.

The program is "Impacts of Immigration on Southwest Florida" and will feature Indera DeMine, an immigration law specialist with the DeMine Immigration Law Firm in Fort Myers. She opened her solo practice in 2016 with the idea of having an immigration law-only firm. DeMine has represented clients throughout Florida, and she has successfully defended her clients in their removal-deportation trials.

DeMine has also represented clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and has guided them as they pursue petitions through the United States consulates around the world. DeMine's family immigrated to America in 2002 from Guyana. In her spare time, she provides free immigration consultation at local churches and community centers, and she speaks at conferences and events.
