‘Ding’ Darling to celebrate National Wildlife Day in February

The J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel has scheduled special free activities on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate National Wildlife Day.

The following activities will start out at the Visitor & Education Center:

- Nature arts and crafts in the classroom from 9 a.m. to noon

A free guided hike along the Indigo Trail will start at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 22 at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge in recognition of National Wildlife Day.

- Guided hike along Indigo Trail to the Wildlife Education Boardwalk from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; meet at the flagpole adjacent to the parking lot

- "Guess that Animal" activity in the classroom from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

- Nature arts and crafts in the classroom from 2 to 4 p.m.

The refuge environmental education team presents National Wildlife Day with support from the "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge. For more information, call 239-472-1100 ext. 236.
