Making the Land Work

A walking tour of the Bailey Homestead Preserve from 10 to 11 a.m. blends the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation's mission-driven work on the historic property, history of the land and stories about the Bailey family. Turtle Tracks

Learn about the life cycles and habits of the sea turtles and shorebirds that nest on Sanibel beaches, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation's monitoring activities and what it is doing to protect them from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Nature Center, at 3333 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel. Experience Virtual Reality

Explore a vivid underwater world full of sea life from 11 a.m. to noon at the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. The 5-10 minute HTC Vive VR experience features the "Coral Reef, Whale Encounter and Deep Sea" experience. Also experiment with painting in a 3-D space with Google Tilt Brush. For ages 10 and over. Monday Movie Matinee

For its Monday Movie Matinee, the Sanibel Public Library will show "Wall-e" from 1 to 3 p.m. at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. Get out of the heat, relax and watch a movie. Oscar-winning CGI-animated delight about the misadventures of the last robot on Earth, circa 2800, who romances a sleek, high-tech android. No registration required. Do-Dads Outer Space Science

A Summer Reading Program activity, "Do-Dads Outer Space Science" will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. The professor will introduce a brand-new show called "Outer Space Science." It will take the audience into the science of space. The professor will share about the solar system, space travel, gravity, stars and more. His new friend, Darcy, will help him along the way.
