Call for student artists

Presented in partnership with The Dunbar Festival Committee and The Black History Society, the Alliance for the Arts is holding the Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Weekend Youth Art Contest.

The competition is open to kindergarten through 12th grade.

Students must choose one out of three themes that characterize King's life and work: love, peace or unity. Student are asked to create a drawing to illustrate what their chosen theme means to them.

Prizes are $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place.

Drawings and completed entry forms are dropped off at the Alliance for the Arts, at 10091 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, or the Lee County Black History Society, at 1936 Henderson Ave., Fort Myers.

Entries must be submitted by Dec. 18.
