TBE guides airport volunteer through refuge

January 24, 2020

Recently, Tarpon Bay Explorers along with the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau hosted Southwest Florida International Airport volunteers and VCB staffers for a day of exploring the back waters of the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel. The airport volunteers are annually treated to a guided tour of the refuge, compliments of the TBE. The tour started at the aquarium touch tank, followed by a cruise around the bay on Explorer IV. Though the winds were a little chilly, the birds were still plentiful with sightings of osprey, great blue herons, pelicans, cormorants, anhingas and more. For more information, visit www.tarponbayexplorers.com or call 239-472-8900. Tarpon Bay Explorers is at 900 Tarpon Bay Road, Sanibel.
